LANGUAGE EVENING 2009
Year 8 performed the remake of the famous Spanish TV programme "Almorzando con Antonio Banderas". Representatives of Argentina, Perú, España and México were invited on occasion of the worldwide celebration of the Spanish Language Day on 24th April.

Mi Vida Estupenda

!Hola, compañeros! Estamos aqui en Freising, una ciudad bonita y tranquila cerca de Múnich en Alemania. En Freising hay muchas tiendas y restaurantes. En mi barrio hay una piscina limpia, un supermercado, un “Biergarten“ (es un tipo de restaurante en Alemania, aqui se puede beber mucha cerbeza) y unas tiendas pequeñas. !Es ideal!

Hoy, voy a hablar sobre mi vida en Freising. Normalmente, me despierto a las siete menos cuarto pero a veces me despierto más tarde (a las siete y cuarto). Desayuno tostadas o cereales, luego me ducho y me baño.

Porque mis padres son profesores en mi escuela, nos vamos a la escuela temprano aunque la escuela empieza a las nueve. En la escuela, me aburro en las clases como las matemáticas o el „library skills“ pero me divierto con mis amigos también. Como a las once y veinticinco en la cantina. Más tarde, vuelvo a casa en coche a las cinco o a las seis. En casa, hago mis deberes o escribo e-mails a mis amigas en Inglaterra, China o los Estados Unidos. Me acuesto a las diez y media.

Al fin de la semana, salgo con amigos o voy al cine. A veces, !voy a la piscina y me divierto mucho! En ocasiones, tengo muchos deberes y tengo que quedarme en casa. No me gustan estas ocasiones porque odio los deberes. !En general, mi vida es muy buena y divertida!

Lingro

With Lingro, you can view any web page or document you want through Lingro’s website and then you just point your mouse at the words, click and the meaning appears in a little blue bubble. The concept is simple: imagine you are reading a online newspaper in a foreign language and you come across a word you don’t know, normally you would then open up another window or tab, go to your favourite online dictionary (www.wordreference.com in my case) and look up the word there; well, with Lingro it’s all integrated.

Lingro will remember which words you looked up and, after you have finished reading the article, you can play vocabulary games online to help you learn and remember the words.

This useful Spanish website is called Kiosko. Here you can find links to a variety of Spanish newspapers, all on the same page. All you have to do is click on any of the front page screenshots and it takes you to that paper’s own website.

The website allows you to access papers from different Spanish regions as well as other international newspapers (French, Italian and German amongst others). I particularly like the Humor section, which displays a selection of the newspapers comic strips and cartoons.

To help you learn vocabulary, you could view the foreign newspapers through the Lingro browser, allowing the reader to simply click on any new words to find out what it means.
